What Methandienone is
Methandienone — known almost universally as "Dianabol" or "Dbol" — is a 17α-alkylated, testosterone-derived oral anabolic-androgenic steroid. It was the first anabolic steroid synthesised specifically for bodybuilding, and it remains the prototypical mass-and-strength oral six decades after its release.
Pharmacology and kinetics
Oral half-life is short — approximately three to five hours — so split daily dosing or pre-workout dosing produces the most consistent effect. Methandienone is moderately aromatising and produces strong estrogenic activity, which is the source of its rapid weight gain (intracellular water and glycogen) and its primary side-effect risks (gynecomastia, water retention, blood-pressure rise).
Where it fits in a cycle
Dianabol is a classic 4–6-week kick-start oral, run during the loading phase of a long-ester injectable cycle to bridge the testosterone base's slow build-up. Typical doses are 20–40 mg per day — with Dianabo 10 mg capsules, that is 2–4 capsules daily. It pairs naturally with testosterone enanthate or cypionate, with deca for the classic golden-era stack, and with anavar or stanozolol if a drier finish is desired.
What to expect
Rapid 4–8 kg of bodyweight in the first 3–4 weeks, large measurable strength gains, increased training drive and recovery, visible water retention, and a substantial rise in blood pressure and liver enzymes. An aromatase inhibitor is generally required to control estrogen, and SERM-based PCT plus a liver-recovery period is mandatory.
