CLOMO50 — IN DEPTH.
What Clomiphene Citrate is
Clomiphene Citrate, marketed historically as "Clomid," is a triphenylethylene selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) consisting of two isomers: enclomiphene (an estrogen antagonist at the hypothalamus) and zuclomiphene (a weak agonist with a much longer half-life). It is the longest-established post-cycle therapy compound in bodybuilding use and a first-line fertility treatment in clinical medicine.
Pharmacology and kinetics
The active enclomiphene isomer has a half-life of approximately 5–7 days; the zuclomiphene fraction lingers far longer, accumulating over weeks of use. Clomiphene blocks estrogen feedback at the hypothalamus, increasing GnRH pulse frequency, which in turn drives LH and FSH release from the pituitary and restarts endogenous testosterone production after suppression.
Where it fits in a cycle
Clomiphene is the workhorse of post-cycle therapy. The standard SERM-based PCT is 50 mg per day for weeks 1–2 and 25 mg per day for weeks 3–4 of clomiphene, often combined with tamoxifen at 40/40/20/20. PCT begins after the longest ester in the cycle has cleared — 7–10 days after a propionate finisher, 2–3 weeks after enanthate or cypionate, 3–4 weeks after decanoate.
What to expect
A measurable rise in LH, FSH and endogenous testosterone within 2–4 weeks of starting PCT, with libido, mood and recovery returning toward baseline over 4–8 weeks. Common side effects include mood disturbance, blurred vision in a small subset of users (zuclomiphene-related) and the occasional hot flash.
Blackbird Pharma's preparation
